"Before the Kentucky Board of Education hires a new search firm to help find another state school commissioner, perhaps its staff needs to do a little background checking of their own. More than a month ago, I uncovered some interesting problems with Ray and Associates, the firm that helped Kentucky find Barbara Erwin.
But I never reported the information, until now:
According to the Iowa Secretary of State's Office, the I.R.S. has a lien on Ray and Associates because the company has failed to pay more than $5700 in federal taxes. ... [An] Iowa state web site also shows that Ray and Associates was administratively dissolved in 1994 and hasn't been in good standing with the state of Iowa since then."
Until Mark told them...they didn't know it!
