RADCLIFF — Parkway Elementary students have made it official: The Big Bad Wolf did not have good intentions when it came to the Three Little Pigs.
Parkway Elementary School’s Family Resource Center held “Guilty or Not Guilty, You Be the Judge — Fairy Tales on Trial” camp over the past two weeks, and the answer this time was guilty.
The camp uses fairy tales to teach students about the criminal justice system, said Lynne Dewey, a literacy instructor at Parkway. This year’s camp focused on the story of the Three Little Pigs, with the Big Bad Wolf being tried for attempted murder and criminal damage to property. The Wolf was found guilty Friday, with the trial being the culminating event of the camp.
Dewey said she wanted to have a camp that taught students about the justice system, since many of the students are exposed to it but might not have a good understanding of it. Being a literacy instructor, she thought using fairy tales would be a fun way to teach serious lessons...
