A Little Commish Search Tid Bit

I ran into a member of the Kentucky Board of Education this afternoon - following a meeting with Governor Beshear on the education budget - and this person had a 3" binder, at least 3/4ths full of applications for Kentucky's next Education Commissioner. And the binder wasn't full of a bunch of stuff either - just applications and resumes.

That means there are lots of applicants.

Let's see: A 3" binder holds about 480 pages. Three fourths of 480 is 360 pages. Let's say each applicant represents five or ten pages (a complete guess). That would figure to somewhere between 36 and 72 applicants.

...but don't hold me to that.

I'd tell you a whole lot more about the applicants, but unfortunately, the binder also carried the word CONFIDENTIAL across it's cover and me getting a peek just wasn't going to happen.

The board begins discussions from 8 til noon on Wednesday the 10th at the State Board Room in the Capital Plaza Tower in Frankfort. The agenda reads:
Review of individuals' applications for the position of commissioner of education (Closed session per KRS 61.810(1)(f) with personnel from Greenwood & Asher Associates, Inc.)
