This from Big Sandy News by way of KSBA:
...Before Monday's meeting, "concerned citizens" formed a picket line in front of the board of education office. When asked for a comment on the protesters, board member Maddlene Roberts said it was "concerned citizens standing up to give our kids a better education."
"It is not our teachers," Roberts said. "It is the administration. It all starts from the top. Lawrence County has wonderful teachers. The change is needed on a higher level. In my opinion, Mr. [Jeff] May has came in and spent all our money. Because of this, we are on state watch, financially, which means that the state can come into our school system and it will become a state-mandated school district, which would mean that the school would become part of the state and would not be about the needs of our children. We need to get rid of Mr. May, but the other board members do not want to pay the salary for another superintendent." ...
...On Tuesday, the protesters picketed the State Farm Insurance office in Louisa, where Parker, the chairwoman, works."This is not an attempt to single one person out," Stacy said Tuesday.
"We are starting with the chairperson of the board and will continue throughout the district, until the community is aware."May and Parker declined to comment on the protests.
