Rare Sunday Special Session Called
This from the Fayette County Schools:
In an effort to maintain open lines of communication between home and school, here is an important message from Fayette County Public Schools.
Dear FCPS Families:
The members of your Fayette County Board of Education team will meet in a special called session at 8 a.m. Sunday, May [3], to discuss the future of its contract with superintendent search firm Proact Search, Inc.
We have recently become aware of very disturbing allegations involving the CEO of Proact Search. The school board needs time to review these allegations and determine our next steps in the search process. We must ensure that the individuals representing us in the superintendent search reflect the core values of our district and community.
Prior to hiring the firm, the district conducted a search of news coverage and legal cases involving Proact Search back through 1999, which did not reveal any of the issues that have now come to light. In fact, one of the reasons the school board selected Proact Search was its record of success in recruiting diverse candidate pools for other school districts.
Our primary focus is doing what’s best for our students, therefore, our top priority is finding a permanent Fayette County Public Schools Superintendent who will put students first and join our team of exceptional employees as we work to provide a world class education for every student in every school. We will continue to keep our community updated as we move forward on this important endeavor.
Thank you for your continued commitment and work on behalf of our students.
Sincerely,
John Price
Fayette County Board of Education Chairman
