American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (H.R. 1)

The House and Senate completed negotiations Thursday on a compromise $789 billion economic recovery package that includes approximately $100 billion for education. It could get signed as early as today.

The legislation provides funding for key state priorities, including:
  • the state longitudinal data systems program ($250 million with a $5 million set-aside for data coordinators and the SEDC),
  • school improvement programs ($3 billion),
  • and state fiscal stabilization $53.6 billion (including $5 billion for state innovation and incentive grants).
