Covington Schools, City Commission to Meet

School district and city leaders see the public meeting as a chance to update each other on issues that affect both.

Chief among them is the city's strategic plan for residential and commercial development and its impact on the tax base, which directly affects the school district.

The school board and Superintendent Jack Moreland will update the city on its ongoing plans to increase parental involvement in school life and its early childhood development programs.

"I know it's the desire of the board, and the commission, to strengthen the relationship with the other," Moreland said. "If both don't succeed, neither succeeds."
