How Dangerous Is Being A Teacher?

This from Matthew Yglesias at Think Progress:

Obviously, cops are doing a dangerous job. But it’s not the most dangerous job [out] there. So I think the point stands. Conservatives would do well to be a bit more skeptical of the activities of police, correctional, military, and intelligence bureaucracies and most liberals would do well to be a bit more skeptical of the activities of education and social service bureaucracies.

Hat tip to Russo.

Most people don't realize how teaching can be a dangerous job. You would first suspect that your students are innocent kids that are just there to get an education. But there is more to their lives as there is to ours.

You have to understand a students background to actually know whether you will feel safe or not. As someone who will be going into the field of Early Education, I automatically believe that I will feel safe inside the school, but that's not always the case.

The graph shows that there are more cases rather then incidence rates. Where does this really begin? Parents can be a main objective to injuries in the school. If they're not happy with their kids progress then they'll either take it out on you or them.

Even if a students home life isn't stable, then there's always a possibilty that they'll have depression issues that they'll take out on anyone that gets in their way.

Yes police officers have a higher risk when it comes to incidence rates among workers, but they aren't involved in as many cases as educators of the school systems are.
