Stop the Mistreatment of Lexington Kindergarteners!

The photos by David Perry in this morning's Herald-Leader demonstrate the finest aspects of photojournalism - the ability to shock the public conscience.

Perry's expose' goes deep inside a government run school to get this troubling shot. It clearly shows the abuse of a 5-year old child in Lexington being exposed to a controversial procedure in stark circumstances. The so-called teacher is clearly shown holding a sharp instrument. The child is being forced...to think!

He's being asked to count.
He's being asked to write his name.
He's being asked to identify his colors and sounds!

Will no one stop the torture?!

Meanwhile, on the other side of Lexington...

...tissues at the ready for the inevitable breakdowns to come.

For years the nation's haughtiest private schools have used such devious procedures in secret places to reject the unworthy. Thousands of deflated egos...countless broken little hearts.

Call Stu Silberman Now! Tell him this heartbreaking practice must end!

You have got to be kidding?!? I am shocked that you have this attitude that these kids were tortured! Come on and start telling the truth. The students and parents had fun! This posting is as bad as it gets.

LOL! Thank you. That's exactly what I was thinking while reading the paper this morning.

Ha! So much fuss over asking kids what color words they know. Some people.

I know the teacher pictured and she's wonderful.

Thanks for the laugh.

Does anonymous even know you're on the same side of this issue? He or she should have stopped with, "You've got to be kidding," and thought for a second. Nothing distasteful about it.
