File under: Blaming the School for a Parenting Issue

Larry King was a gay junior high school student who came to school in make-up, high heels and earrings. And when the other boys made fun of him, he would tease them right back by flirting with them.

That may have been what got him killed.

On February 12, another student, Brandon McInerney, 14, shot him twice in the head at the back of the computer lab at their school, police say.*

That Larry King was killed was a tragedy deserving of the toughest punishment. But this...? If there is any negligence here, the parents must surely share in full measure.

Ventura, Calif. - The family of a gay teenager who was fatally shot in class is blaming the school district for allowing their son to wear makeup and feminine clothing to school — factors the family claims led to the death.

The parents and brother of 15-year-old Larry King of Oxnard filed a personal injury claim against the Hueneme school district seeking unspecified damages for not enforcing the dress code...
