Man sues Whitley teacher over son’s injuries

Lawsuit stems from tackle football game during Recess

A Whitley County man has filed a lawsuit against a Whitley County Middle School teacher after his son was allegedly injured while playing football at the school.

The suit, filed by Harold Block on behalf of his son Harold Block Jr., alleges Andy Richardson, a teacher at Whitley County Middle School, was negligent by allowing students to play tackle football during their recess period without the proper equipment, training or parental permission. The alleged incident occurred in November 2007.

According to the complaint filed Nov. 19 in Whitley County Circuit Court, Harold Block Jr. suffered a right femoral shaft fracture, which required surgical treatment at the University of Kentucky Medical Center...
