Penalized, but proud: No school uniform, no band uniform

NJ.com reports Gabriel Wadsworth has been booted off his school chess team and the band, and he can't run for Student Council - all because he won't wear a mandated school uniform.
And, if he had it to do over again, the straight-A student said he'd still stick to his guns.

"I do miss (the extracurricular participation) but I'm standing on principle," said Gabriel, 12, a sixth-grader at Bayonne's Bailey School. "They shouldn't be able to force anyone to wear uniforms. We have personal choice."
