Speaking of Social Media, how about film and its impact on education? There is a new film out this weekend which will discuss, among other things, the treatment Josh Shipman faced as a struggling gay teenager in Fayette County Public Schools. Josh ultimately committed suicide. Even Merlene Davis gave it some publicity in her column today. I think this film will be a great opportunity for Dr. Silberman to address issues of sexual orientation facing FCPS.

I hope you will give some coverage to this film and the neglect gay kids face in the public schools.

I'm not sure film is considered social mdedia because its not interactive...but thanks for the tip. I'll try to give it a look.

Also...

"Even Merlene..."?

As far as I can recall, Merlene has a pretty good record on justice for gays.

But, as you once said, you let the opportunity to help gay students slip when you were on the FCPS Equity Commiteee.

Please give the film a post on your blog. It's related to education. In so doing, you will help gay kids, and those perceived as gay, in the schools.

You must know, as well as I do, that sexual orientation in American education is a neglected topic. As a former principal, you must know how being called "gay" or "faggot" hurts our children.
