Madisonville-North Hopkins High School teacher Richard Sarles faces “corrective action” for a comment he made in class.
“He made what we would consider an inappropriate comment,” Hopkins County Schools Deputy Superintendent Linda Zellich said.
“He admitted it, and he apologized to the students.”
Latassa Mitchell-Hawkins, the mother of one of the students involved, doesn’t believe the school district is taking the matter seriously enough.
On Oct. 29, her daughter and three other black students were talking together in Sarles’ class.
“He pointed fingers to them and said if the class doesn’t quiet down, he’s going to have to separate his children of color,” Mitchell-Hawkins said...
