Well educated professionals shouldn't be expected to serve 12- 15 hour days at the expense of their own personal lives. In order to perform the job we are expecting principals to put their personal lives and relationships, even their health on the back burner. That isn't healthy especially when one considers the stress of the position. It is ironic that we allowed EPSB and KDE to push post secondary into revamping their Master degree programs into generic "teacher leader" programs, yet those very institutions have done very little to advocate or endorse a refinement of how we should restructure schools so as to utilize these "teacher leaders". Instead we just heap it all on the school level administrator. Anymore it is just a cap stone for many- to bump up their retirement with a higher average. Try to stick it out for a few years and then bail into retirement. Finally, we reward principals about the same as teachers when it comes to being successful and effective - no pay raise or in school advancement opportunity, just another year in the same box with usually more pressure and expectations on one.Bringyoursaddlehomehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12266891355734317864noreply@blogger.com
