The education jobs are scarce and in many towns small and big the teaching jobs are political and provide the person doing the hiring with power. The jobs are awarded to friends that know the principal and/or superintendent. Those folks are not always the best qualified and passionate about this wonderful profession. If those hired did sincerely want to teach, the assessments and standards would not be a problem. When a person has a passion to teach everything else becomes secondary and the student benefits. The culture of any organization is set by its leader. The leader must have a plan to monitor this type of behavior. It is hard to believe the upper and mid-level managers were unaware of the situation from its inception to the time the situation was exposed. The system failed the students. We ask our students to give us their best daily and the example was not set before them by those in charge. Since assessments are about accountability and now the process has been tainted someone has to be held accountable.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5776587.post-57338074394697796552011-07-11T17:21:09.898-04:002011-07-11T17:21:09.898-04:00Yes students need to be held accountable, but unti...Yes students need to be held accountable, but until state and districts leaders realize that all children learn at different levels and they dont start school on the same level due to different home situation. When can we start holding Parents accountable for thier child scoring proficient. It seems we have forgotten that learning begins at home.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5776587.post-66512858979689347812011-07-09T12:05:01.674-04:002011-07-09T12:05:01.674-04:00Regardless of individual opinions about testing in...Regardless of individual opinions about testing in general, until we make students accountable, scores are meaningless.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
